I could see a small single light cutting through the blowing snow and the darkness, bobbing up and down as it moved closer. I watched as it made a turn into the driveway, pulling up by the front porch where I stood. Silence surrounded me as the machine shut off and the whining noise stopped. A tall figure stepped off the snowmobile. Dressed in dark clothing and a black helmet with a full-face shield. He walked towards the front step and the outside lights, unsnapping is helmet and lifting it off. His face looked red and cold, his clothing covered in snow and ice from the ride. His eyes sparkled at me. Reaching into the messenger bag he had strapped over his shoulder. He drew out a small white paper bag and held it up to me.

”I thought you might have run out by now.”

I took the bag and peeked inside...sticky buns from the café. I looked up in astonishment. Who does this? Drive a snowmobile, in a blizzard, to deliver a stranger sticky buns? Only the same guy I had been experiencing fantasies about for the last two days...Asher DuBois.

I heard a saying once: ‘If you can’t see the stars in his eyes when he’s

looking at you, walk away darling. You deserve so much more.’

I haven’t found the stars yet and I want the stars.
